Acer Philippines has confirmed a data breach affecting employeesafter data was stolen through an attack on a third-party vendor. The attacker appears to have leaked the data on hacking forums.

The attacker, known as “ph1ns,” posted a link to download a stolen database containing Acer employee data. According to BleepingComputer, ph1ns said that this was not a ransomware but a simple data theft. Furthermore, the company was not targeted for blackmail.
BleepingComputer says that an Acer Philippines representative confirmed that the data found on the hacking forum is theirs, but was not obtained directly from the systems .

"We are aware that one of our external suppliers in the Philippines suffered breach and, as a result, a limited set of employee data has been compromised," the spokesperson told BleepingComputer.
“While we are working with the supplier, cyber experts and law enforcement, we would like to emphasize that no customer data has been affected and there is no evidence of a breach of Acer systems.“.
Acer Philippines made a related post on X (formerly Twitter), where it also emphasized that customer data and the company's systems were not affected.
