YouTube TV: Upgrades Multiview Mode

Youtube TV Multiview

Since its launch last spring, YouTube TV's Multiview feature has been a major quality of life improvement for sports fans.

You can use it to watch multiple games at once without having to set up additional TVs. However, until now, you could only watch the pre-set sets of games that YouTube thought would be of interest to the most viewers. An upcoming update changes that, allowing you to customize multiview with your preferred mix of broadcasts.

While it's a big improvement over the pre-set multiview feeds that YouTube TV introduced, it still seems to have some limitations. For example, while you can create your own bundle of specific games, you can only choose from a pre-set list, according to a report by Cordcutters News.

Google spokeswoman Allison Toh confirmed the upgrade, noting that it is currently only available for NBA League Pass and men's and women's NCAA basketball. "We hope to gradually bring it to other sports in the coming months," Toh wrote.

I hope these lists will eventually include all games being shown within their respective sports, or at least some of them. However, as of now, the YouTube TV support page still refers to different regional broadcasts, and there are server resource constraints that limit what is possible. The ultimate plan would be to create a multiview with games from any sport or channel (would be great for the 2024 NFL season, just a thought!).
