In a post on Reddit on December 12, a User Steam Deck shared that they have received an official response from Steam Support about whether it is "safe to breathe the fumes emitted by the device". Three days later, Steam Support put an end to the debate.

"As with all electronic devices, it is not recommended to inhale the fumes emitted by your device", replied Steam Support. "While there are no safety concerns when in normal use, you should avoid inhaling device fumes on a regular basis. We understand that it may seem unlikely, but please do not adopt this behavior for health reasons and Security.
As to the striking basis of this decision, we have not found References confirming that inhaling the hot air produced by portable electronic devices can have long-term negative effects. But that doesn't mean that raising the temperature of your Steam Deck is perfectly safe.
