A new report examines the top reasons why tech professionals resign and seek new employers .

The Jefferson Frank report examined the top reasons why tech workers resign and look for new employers. The survey surveyed more than 600 employees who work for major companies, including Amazon Web Services, Salesforce, Microsoft 365 and Azure .
The first reason has to do with the salary and mainly with the lack of raises. The second reason is related to the lack of opportunities for career development. In third place on the list, there is the need for new challenges. In fourth place, the lack of leadership and in fifth place dissatisfaction with the work culture that dominates the company.

The sixth and seventh places are related to insufficient utilization and the lack of the ability to use the latest products. The eighth reason why technology workers want to leave their current position is the desire for a better work-life balance. The last two places are occupied by the feeling that their work is not appreciated and hours working , respectively.
This report seems to be in line with other reports that have revealed that a quarter of tech workers plan to quit their jobs this year. Jefferson Frank believes it is important to understand the reasons why employees quit in order to find a solution.

According to the company, the tech sector needs to seek out more talent, while retaining current employees to address the gap. Companies need to offer “sustainable career paths” to their current employees.

Jefferson Frank CEO James Lloyd-Townshendcommented: “I’m not surprised that the no-pay increase stands out – fair pay will always be critical.”
Research shows that pay increases can increase the satisfaction employees get from their jobs. When employees feel they are being paid fairly for their work, they are more likely to stay with employer .

As for the other top reasons, Mr Lloyd-Townshend said they “generally fall into three categories: progress, purpose and work culture. Revitalizing these elements will give businesses the best chance of retaining their tech talent.”
Therefore, the above shows that technology companies have a lot to do to retain their employees. In addition to salary increases, flexible working, career development opportunities, and the opportunity to work remotely are some of the factors that can increase employee satisfaction in the technology industry.
