At the Rennsport Reunion in Laguna Seca, Porsche and Tag unveiled the GT4 RS Panamericana Special, a model that pays homage to the Porsche 550 Coupe that played a significant role in the Carrera Panamericana race 70 years ago. Only two 550 Coupes competed in the 2,100-mile rally across Mexico, and two GT4 RS models will be built. One will be numbered 154 and the other will be numbered 152.

So what makes the 718 so special? The drivetrain and everything else is the same as a regular car, but Porsche's Sonderwunsch team has created a special look for it. It starts with the Le Mans silver metallic paint that was developed several years ago for the 911 Carrera GTS Le Mans Centenaire Edition. Many of the unpainted parts of the GT4 RS are painted here, giving it a simpler look, without many variations. At the same time, the large Tag Heuer logo on the hood and side wings is gray. In addition, you can notice the label on the wheel covers as well as on the air filter. The Pegasus you see on the car refers to the old logo of Mobil Oil, which was a sponsor back when the 550 Coupe was competing. In addition, the company has announced its intention to bring the Pegasus logo back to life as a sticker, for those who want to put it on their own car.

If you're wondering why Tag Heuer stands out: This is the 60th anniversary of the Carrera, which was inspired by the demanding Carrera Panamericana race. Jack Heuer created the first Carrera. Over the years, Porsche and Tag Heuer have collaborated many times.

As for the interior, Porsche uses Guards Red, creating a contrast with the black anodized aluminum finish. The really interesting element inside, however, is the Tag Heuer stopwatch located in the center console. The left clock simply displays the current time, while the right clock acts as a rally stopwatch. Everywhere we see colors and logos associated with the Heuer label. The interior stitching is presented in green, white and red. “GT4 RS Panamericana Special” is engraved on the door sills, while the Tag Heuer logo is embossed on the armrest. The headrests bear the Carrera Panamericana logo and text, while the logo on the valve cover is also visible.

Patrick Dempsey will drive the number 154 car in the first two stages of this year’s Carrera Panamericana, while the number 152 car will be revealed during the event. The second car will be auctioned off for charity, offering the winner the chance to own a GT4 RS.
