Google's upcoming Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro phones , due out on October 4, could support updates software for seven years , according to a specs list published by 91Mobiles. Kamila Wojciechowska , the original source of the leak, also published the phones' US prices . The Pixel 8 Pro is said to start at $899, while the Pixel 8 could start at $699.
Wojciechowska notes that it's unclear whether Google will offer seven years of major Android OS updates for the phones, or whether they'll be security. But either way, it's a significant improvement over last year's Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, for which Google offered five years of security updates, including three years of major Android updates.
Seven years is better than the five years promised by both Samsung for its latest Galaxy S23 phones and OnePlus for this year's OnePlus 11.
