The teenager arrested for hacking Grand Theft Auto 6 is accused of blackmailing Rockstar for the game's code.

As Reuters reports, the teenager in question, Arion Kurtaj, was told in a London court that he allegedly threatened Rockstar with leaking the code for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto sequel. He apparently sent the threat in a Slack sent to all Rockstar staff. The Rockstar hack came days after Kurtaj also allegedly hacked Revolut and Uber. Kurtaj is charged with 12 offences, including three counts of extortion, two counts of fraud and six counts under the Computer Misuse Act. It is also important to note that psychiatrists have assessed him as unfit to stand trial.
Because of that assessment, the jury will only reach a decision on whether he committed the alleged acts, not on whether he is guilty or innocent. Kurtaj is also accused of blackmailing broadband provider BT and mobile network EE along with a 17-year-old who cannot be named. Prosecutors say the two were “key players” in Lapsus$, a hacking group.

The GTA 6 leak surfaced last September, showing off a slew of footage and screenshots from the in-development game. What was shown looked like the typical GTA premise and matched a report about the game from earlier this year. Rockstar confirmed that the leaks were indeed real, noting that it still plans to “properly introduce you to this next game when it’s ready.”
At this time, aside from the gameplay reports, not much is known about the title, let alone the platforms it might be released on. There's a chance it could be released as early as next year, but we'll have to wait and see.
