One of the most enjoyable parts of the Cyberpunk 2077 experience is that after two years it presents a game that looks and performs much better than when it was first released.
After two years of DLSS updates and development, the technology seems to be making the game in early 2023 look like the sequel to the next-gen, choppy and sluggish game we saw in late 2020. This is something we think some of you are going to experience again, because Nvidia is coming out next week, and it looks pretty hot.

Here's how the company describes it:
“On April 11th, a new Cyberpunk 2077 update will be released, featuring the Ray Tracing Technology Preview: Overdrive Mode, which enhances the game's already stunning graphics with full ray tracing, otherwise known as path tracing.
Full ray tracing technology accurately simulates light across an entire scene. It’s used by visual effects artists to create lifelike graphics in movies and television, but until the arrival of GeForce RTX GPUs with RT cores and the acceleration of NVIDIA’s AI- powered DLSS technology , real-time full ray tracing in video games was impossible because it’s too GPU-intensive.”

The point is, of course, that if you buy an expensive Nvidia 40-series graphics card in 2023, this technology is no longer impossible. It means that “every neon sign, street lamp, LED billboard, car headlight, and other light source is now ray-traced, bathroom objects, walls, passing cars, and pedestrians accurately illuminated,” and that with global illumination “virtually all light sources now display physically correct soft shadows, a feat previously unthinkable using previous approaches. Players will experience improved shading, with better depth, detail, and realism.”

If you have a 40-series Nvidia card or are thinking about getting one soon, this update will be released on April 11th.
