Amazon is excited to announce that the beloved animated classic, The Batman: Caped Crusader, will be streaming on its platform!

James Gunn and Peter Safran are leading the charge to revitalize DC Entertainment, even keeping some of the projects that were announced before their arrival. For example, Batman: Caped Crusader – a highly anticipated animated series from Bruce Timm (co-creator of Batman: The Animated Series), Matt Reeves (director of The Batman), and JJ Abrams – is still very much alive! You can expect to enjoy it on Prime Video when it releases.

The series, which Warner Bros. ordered for just 10 episodes, was supposed to air on HBO Max , but plans fell through during Discovery's acquisition. But not only has Amazon picked it up, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has reportedly already asked for a second season, which is a very good sign for the series.

Timm and the others have emphasized that the series is set in and takes place during Batman's early career, before all his alliances and the classic and beloved Batmobile. Furthermore, Timm refers to this series more as Batman: The Animated Series than just Batman: The Animated Series, which says a lot about its plot. "This time, I would love to take the opportunity to do whatever I want, like it's 1990 again," Timm said with a twinkle in his eye.
