Did Uganda's national examinations body miss the long-awaited results of students? That is the claim in what appears to be a tweet from the Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb), released on Facebook in February 2023.

The tweet reads: “We regret to inform you that our system was recently attacked and, as a result, UCE 2022 results have been lost. Our team is doing everything in its power to recover them – however, if this fails, we will be forced to rely on students ’ virtual results . We apologize for any inconvenience or problems this situation has caused.”

The Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), is the nationally recognized secondary school leaving certificate for those living in Uganda. The examinations were held from October 14 to November 18, 2022.
Since December, the UCE exam essay evaluation process has been underway, but the result has not yet been revealed.

If a Tweet appears to come from the handle @UNEB _UG (note the space before the underscore), it is probably fake. The genuine Uneb account has the handle @UNEB_UG, without the space.
On February 4, UNEB posted the screenshot on Twitter, with the stamp “FAKE.”
"Please ignore the news circulating on social media, suggesting that the UNEB 'system' was recently hacked and that the 2022 UCE results were 'lost'. The information is false and baseless," the tweet reads.
Rest assured that the results of the #UCE2022 public are safe and secure with us. They will be made public when the time comes.
