Renew Europe's George Kyrtsos and investigative journalist Tasos Telloglou are the latest victims of the infamous "Greek Watergate" scandal, which has been causing turmoil in Athens for months.
On Thursday (December 15), a team from the Greek Authority for Communications Security and Privacy Protection (ADAE) carried out the relevant investigations.
The Autonomous Authority for Information and Communications Security (ADAE), which is constitutionally mandated to monitor the activities of Greece’s intelligence services, received reports from MEPs Kyrtsos and Telloglou, who requested an audit of possible illegal surveillance. In response, ADAE launched a comprehensive investigation.

EURACTIV has reportedly revealed that the audit revealed that both men had been subject to surveillance by the secret services - however, the reasoning was omitted due to "national security".
Very importantly, the European media outlet reports that the independent authority encountered difficulties in carrying out the audit. Specifically, the prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Greece allegedly tried to block the audit by saying that it was illegal, Euractiv reports, apparently referring to Isidoros Dogiakos.
Documento contacted Tasos Telloglou, who was unaware of this development, but confirmed that he had indeed submitted a relevant request to ADAE to be informed about whether he was being monitored by the EYP. As is evident from the above publication, the investigation concluded that Mr. Telloglou was indeed under surveillance by the National Intelligence Service.
According to exclusive information from SecNews, relevant moves are being prepared in the Greek judiciary regarding this specific case.
