Developers: Surveys show that 74% are open to new opportunities or actively looking for new work.

According to Stackoverflow’s survey of 2,600 developers, 20-24 year olds are the most likely age group to be actively looking for a new job. 27% said they were, followed by 21% of 25-34 year olds, 17% of 35-44 year olds, and just 12% of 45-54 year olds. It’s worth noting that this rate of active job search has increased dramatically by nine points compared to last year among the younger cohort – an impressive statistic that can’t be ignored !
However, StackOverflow CEO Prashanth Chandrasekar warned that developers are looking for companies that have the potential to be profitable.
Even with the recent job losses in the tech sector, Chandrasekar argues that developers will not be affected because many businesses are still transitioning to more modern technologies.
The recent layoffs, while high-profile, do not signal a reversal of long-standing imbalances in developer supply and demand, Chandrasekar said.

He noted that the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) predicted in September that there will be more than 160,000 jobs annually for software developers, QA analysts, and testers by 2031. In addition, the BLS predicted a whopping 26% growth in software developer — significantly higher than the 5% average growth rate for all occupations.

54%, based on StackOverflow survey responses, consider a higher salary to be the most desirable factor when looking for an opportunity.
Developers are significantly influenced by flexibility (58%), compensation (54%), and training prospects (54%) when it comes to seeking new employment opportunities. The inability to have flexible schedules or being required to arrive/leave at a specific time (46%), as well as the requirement to work from the office rather than remotely (44%) remain top drawbacks for developers.
For those who don't know: Developers are professionals who create, design, and maintain the applications we use in our daily lives. From mobile apps and websites to complex software programs that help businesses succeed - developers make it all possible.
