
Apple has updated its homepage to honor Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away yesterday at the age of 96. The company's site features a photo of the queen taken by Dorothy Wilding on February 26, 1952, when the then-young Elizabeth ascended to the throne. Next to the photoare dates and the words: "In Memoriam. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II."

Her reign spanned more than 70 years. Apple wanted to honor Queen Elizabeth II, who was the longest-reigning monarch in the history of the United Kingdom and the longest-reigning queen in world history. As the BBC reports, the queen “died peacefully on Thursday afternoon at her Scottish estate, where she had spent much of the summer.” Her son, Charles, is her successor and is now the new King of England, Charles III. In a statement, Charles III said the queen’s death would be “deeply felt across the country and by countless people around the world.”
