Apple is preparing to unveil the second generation of AirPods Pro at its "Far Out" event on Wednesday, according to a report from Apple tracker Mark Gurman.
The original AirPods Pro were released by Apple in October 2019, so it was time for a new pair, right? According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter, the AirPods Pro 2 will be unveiled this Wednesday, September 7, alongside the iPhone 14 and the Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Pro.

Designation
Well, they won't be called the Apple AirPods Pro 2. That's a great unofficial name, but it won't be what Apple will call headphones .
New design?
There were rumors that the upcoming AirPods Pro would look very different, with no stem to begin with. However, more recent reports say that the design will be a more subtle update of the current design.
One thing is for sure: although the third-generation AirPods changed the design significantly, Apple will ensure that the new Pro headphones look different enough to be easily distinguishable .

Audio improvements
There are several reports that say there could be LC3 codec support and support for Bluetooth 5.2. Don't worry about the names and numbers, it means the battery life could be longer and the sound quality will be improved.

Pricing
We're in the dark about pricing, but we're guessing Apple will stick with the current $249 price tag or slightly increase the price by, say, $10, as it did with the third-generation AirPods. We also think Apple will retire the first-generation AirPods Pro when are released .
