543 horsepower, rear-wheel drive and a seven-speed gearbox are truly exciting specifications for the 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic.
Thirteen years ago, Porsche introduced a limited-edition 911 intended to evoke memories of the classic Carrera RS 2.7. It featured a subtle gray paint job, a ducktail spoiler, and a unique double-bubble hood and roof. It was called the Sport Classic, and it excited enthusiasts in North America with thoughts of what could have been.

That's no longer the case because the Porsche 2023 911 Sport Classic is coming to North America.
Just as the 2010 Sport Classic was heavily based on the Carrera S, the 2023 Sport Classic is based on the Turbo S — though, with its comparatively limited output of 543 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque (down 97 and 148 from the Turbo S, respectively) it seems closer in spec to the 911 Turbo. Unlike both, however, the 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic will only be available with a seven-speed manual transmission.
At the back is the ducktail spoiler, double-bubble roof and unique hood, although this time every piece is made of carbon-fiber reinforced plastic. The rear wings are just as unique as the Sport Classic, without the intakes placed in front of the rear wheels on the Turbo and Turbo S. Instead, air is drawn directly in front of the spoiler, like on old Porsches.

But while the exterior upgrades of the 911 Sport Classic are nice, the interior is a masterpiece. Light leather and houndstooth, combined with wood accents, create a cockpit that ultimately looks beautiful in the 911 R. Porsche also has a version of the Sport Classic available in plain black leather.
The 2023 911 Sport Classic will also be available in the United States, but Porsche will only build 1,250 cars worldwide. Pricing hasn't been announced yet, but this is a limited-edition Porsche that includes the chance to buy a fancy watch. If you're in the market, the cost won't matter.
