On Tuesday, at an event in Japan, Toyota spoke once again about its big plans for battery-powered vehicles. Akio Toyoda, president of Toyota Motor Corporation, said the company plans to offer 30 BEV models across all segments, under the Toyota and Lexus brands, by 2030.

By then, Toyota plans to sell 3.5 million electric cars annually. To achieve this goal, the company will invest about $70 billion globally in electric vehicles.
Toyota backed up these plans with a room full of electric and hybrid concept vehicles. What's perhaps most interesting is an electric truck spotted in the corner. Toyota didn't reveal any details about the car, but it looks like a direct competitor to Rivian's R1T and Ford's upcoming F150 Lightning, and with Toyota's expertise in building great pickups, it could be a very interesting car.
As for when we can expect this car to hit the market, it probably won't be anytime soon. Despite its early dominance in hybrid vehicles, Toyota currently only has one electric vehicle available for pre-order, a futuristic SUV called the Toyota bZ4X, which will be released next year. A recent report also said that the company plans to launch an affordable electric car in China in late 2022.
