As vaccinations for COVID-19 progress worldwide, Apple encourages its employees to return to the workplace and stop remote work. However, not everyone seems willing to return to the office, and now some employees say they will resign from the company as it refuses requests for remote work.

A new report from The Verge has revealed that Apple is increasingly denying requests from employees who want to continue working from home instead of the new hybrid model. In a Slack channel with 6,000 members, employees are saying they will leave Apple if the company doesn't change its decision.

While Apple generally started discouraging its employees from working from home, there were exceptions to the rule and some teams were more lenient than others. Now, employees say that even these exceptions are being denied. In a company Slack channel where workers support remote work, about 10 people said they would resign because of the hybrid work policy or knew others who had been forced to resign.
Verge was informed that the company is requesting medical records to decide whether employees will be approved to work from home, something that «made some people feel uncomfortable».

Last month, an internal survey conducted by Apple employees found that at least 90% of employees want flexibility when it comes to remote work, but the company maintains that in-person work is essential and expects everyone to return to the office soon. Employees even sent a letter to Apple CEO Tim Cookasking for changes, but all of those requests were rejected.
