This type of remote charging has been talked about for years, but no company has successfully prepared and commercially presented it. Xiaomi, however, is known for its innovations, especially in technology , having already introduced 80W wireless charging and 120W wired charging. If the company manages to bring it to market and not just stay in a presentation, then we will be talking about one of the most revolutionary technologies that will change the way we use devices .

Xiaomi has given some details about its new Mi Air Charge technology. According to the company, this technology is capable of providing 5W to a device within a few meters of the “self-developed isolated charging pile”. This charging pile has 5 antennas to accurately determine the location of your mobile device. After determining the location, a “charging beam” is activated. To receive this “beam”, the mobile device must have a built-in system that can receive this signal and convert it into electrical energy.

Xiaomi said that at this stage, the Mi Air Charge remote charging technology is just a demo. The company is very keen to bring this technology to market, but it is not certain whether it will overcome all the implementation problems that other companies have faced.

Furthermore, there are concerns about the impact of this technology on health and it will certainly need to be thoroughly reviewed by the relevant regulatory authoritiesif the time comes for it to be officially released.

If Xiaomi pulls it off, it will be one of the biggest innovations in smart home products. Many companies have tried to do this in the past. We'll have to wait and see if the Chinese company will be the one to pull it off.
