A cyberattack that took place at Ho.Mobile before the New Year resulted in the theft data .

Ongoing investigations indicate that only certain data from a portion of the company has been illegally stolen, relating to personal and technical SIM data, while banking or payment systems are not included in the leak.
As we mentioned in our previous article, cyber threat analyst, @Bank_Security, spotted on a popular hacking forum, a hacker claiming to be selling a database belonging to Ho.Mobile.
Ho.Mobile immediately launched investigations in cooperation with the competent authorities regarding the alleged theft of its customers' data and filed a complaint with the investigating authority and informed everyone with whom it closely cooperates.

As reported , only a portion of Ho.Mobile's customer data was affected by the cyberattack , but among the data collected by the hackers are also the Iccid codes, which identify SIMs and allow their portability. However, the company has already implemented multiple checks to verify the identity of those requesting a SIM change to prevent SIM swapping .
"We are currently only informing affected Ho.Mobile customers and have already activated additional and new levels of security to protect customers from potential threats. Further actions to protect stolen data are being implemented and will be communicated to customers soon," the company said.
Customers who still want to change their SIM can request a free replacement at authorized points of sale. These types of cyberattacks have increased and accelerated during the pandemic, and Ho.Mobile is just the latest company to fall into the hackers.
