When you send an email from your Gmail account, your display name, along with other information , is shown to the recipient. However, you can change the display name associated with your Gmail account by following a few simple steps
First, it should be clarified that you can only change the name on your Gmail account on a desktop browser. You cannot use the Gmail mobile app on Android , iPhone , or iPad to change your name.

- To change the name on your Gmail account, log in to your account via the Gmail site in browser . Once logged in, click the gear icon to open the “Settings”.

- Then, select “Show all settings” at the top of the drop-down menu.

- You will now be in the “General” tab of the Gmail “Settings” menu . Click on the “Accounts and import” tab .

- In the “Send email as” section , you’ll see your email address and the display name associated with it. Click the “Edit info” button to change the display name.

- Now, a new window will appear. Here, you can change the display name by clicking on the speech bubble next to the text box and then typing the new display name in that text box. Click on “Save Changes” to apply the change.

- You will now see your new display name next to the “Send email as” in the Gmail settings menu.

So, from the next time you send an email, the new display name will appear to the recipient you choose.
Finally, it's worth clarifying that while Google allows you to change your display name, you can't change username , which is different from your display name, or your email address. However, if you need a new email address, you can create a new account.
