Crystal Dynamics has released the first "War Table stream" for Marvel's Avengers, revealing the enemy and other details.
A familiar name to Marvel comic book fans is " MODOK " (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing), but he will be relatively new to Marvel Cinematic Universe viewers . MODOK has appeared in several Marvel games , but this time he will be the main enemy.
One of the trailers released during the stream explains that MODOK is trying to fix the damage that the Avengers supposedly did during "A-Day." The Marvel heroes were accused of turning San Francisco into a "contaminated, toxic gas-filled" area, and creating a quarantine. MODOK, influenced by the events of that day, wants to eliminate superpowers from the world, including himself.
Before taking the name MODOK, he was known as "George Tarleton", a founding member of AIM. One of the main characters in the Avengers game, Kamala Khan, suspects that the tech company is experimenting on "Inhumans", like herself, and begins her journey to discover the truth.
Single-Player
In single player, each player takes on special hero missions, while Kamala – or Ms. Marvel – tries to reunite the Avengers. The stream offered a closer look at the game, on a level with the main character Thor. With the help of his legendary hammer, Mjolnir, he fights against the AIM army in a helicopter.
Heroes have their basic abilities, while you can unlock more skills and moves as you progress through the game. Each has 3 special or heroic powers: attack, support, and ultimate.
Offense is exactly what its name suggests. Support is primarily about your teammates, allowing you to boost them. Ultimates can give you the ability to impact battles massively, like when Thor can break through shields and cause widespread destruction.
Avengers also features many RPG mechanics that are a bit reminiscent of the video game "Destiny." You can also customize players and equip them with tools that will give them additional abilities or perks. You can also change appearance , clothing , expressions , and identities .
Something that will excite you is that you will be able to rebuild and upgrade your own propeller ship, in which you will be able to unlock new missions and tools.
Multiplayer
In Avengers multiplayer, you'll find "War Zones" missions, where you can take on up to 3 opponents, either alone or with your AI companions, based on the heroes you've unlocked and upgraded. When you and your team reach the maximum number of enemies you can immobilize, you can land the big finishing blow with the team's Terminator.
Crystal Dynamics is set to add more heroes, locations, and content, all at no additional cost. After several delays, Marvel's Avengers is set to come to PC, Stadia, Xbox One , and PS4 on September 4.If you buy it on PS4 or Xbox One, you'll get a free upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions.
The important thing is that the Avengers game is compatible with different generation consoles, meaning if you're playing on Xbox One you can connect with someone who's on Series X.
