Following the overwhelming success of TikTok , several apps have been created that offer similar features in an attempt to compete with it. One such app is Mitron, an Indian variant of TikTok that has already reached 5 million downloads on the Google Play Store .
This new app could be a game-, as it is a new rival in the TikTok vs. YouTube. However, according to some reviews it has received on the Play Store, Mitron is characterized as a TikTok clone, with more bugs and fewer features.
Mitron: An alternative to TikTok
The app features a similar user interface to TikTok. It is much smaller in size, at just 8MB, compared to TikTok, and allows for profile editing, but few additions can be made beyond the name and bio.
When it comes to recording videos, it doesn't offer the same effects and filters that can be found on TikTok. However, users can add sounds to their videos by simply tapping the "Add sounds" button on the video recording screen.
Currently, Mitron is only available for Android devices and there has been no word yet on whether it will be released for iOS.
Errors in the Mitron application
One of the most significant bugs of the app is that it often stops working while recording a video. This can be particularly annoying for creators, as they may have to record a video from scratch, two, three, or more times.
Of course, Mitron offers many options when it comes to sharing videos, on platforms such as Hike, Slack, Instagram, WhatsApp, VLC, ShareIt, Telegram, Snapchat and many more.
Mitron vs. TikTok
Mitron may have been created to compete with TikTok, but we can't say that it poses a big threat to the popular app, since it lacks many of its features. The large increase in Mitron downloads is more a result of anti-Chinese sentiment in India. However, for the app to become a serious competitor to TikTok, it will have to improve many things and make significant changes and additions.
