Chinese online retailer Suning announced a huge price cut on Apple 's iPhone 11 series about a week ago . In some cases, prices were reduced by up to 1,600 yuan ($225). Now, other Chinese online retailers have announced various price cuts for the iPhone 11 series. Some of the most well-known stores include Jingdong, Taobao, and Tmall.
For example, the iPhone 11 64GB is selling for 4,999 yuan ($709) on Suning, which is 500 yuan ($71) cheaper than Apple’s official website. The iPhone 11 Pro Max 64GB is priced at 7,499 yuan ($1,064), which is 1,600 yuan ($225) less than Apple’s official website. As for Jingdong, the iPhone 11 128GB version is selling for 5,999 yuan ($851), which is the same as Apple’s official website. However, there is a 500 yuan ($71) discount coupon that brings the price down to 5,499 yuan ($780).
Other online stores such as Gome and Dangdang have also been offering different discounts on the price of the iPhone 11 series. Analysts believe that this price cut for the iPhone 11 is partly due to the removal of inventory during the pandemic. In addition, it may also be a preparation for the arrival of the new iPhone 12.
Apple is working with some e-commerce companies to launch door-to-door delivery and services. For example, last month, Apple launched a door-to-door device replacement service on its JD.com store. The project includes products such as Apple iPhones, the latest iPad Pro, and the Apple Macbook Air. In the past, for these commercial services, users had to visit a physical Apple retail store.
Other manufacturers like Huawei and Vivo also have a similar service. Huawei and Meituan recently signed an agreement, which aims to provide door-to-door delivery in cities like Beijing and Shanghai.
As IDC reported in February this year, smartphone in China could fall by more than 30% year-on-year. Another report from Canalys believes that smartphone shipments in the country will fall by 50% year-on-year.
