Specifically, Jeff Bezos appears to have received a message from the personal account of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman via the WhatsApp application 
This message hid a malicious file, specifically a video, which “infected” the Amazon. The hackers seem to have taken advantage of the seemingly good relationship between the two powerful men, which was reflected in their communication via WhatsApp, which was shaken, as was reasonable, after the malicious file was sent. The result of the hacking of Jeff Bezos’ mobile phone was the leak of a significant amount of data in just a few hours, without it being clear what information was stolen or how it was used. The possible involvement of the Saudi prince in the message that “hacked” the personal data of the billionaire owner of Amazon is causing a storm of reactions, which is expected to intensify even more if is verified . The trial was criticized as a fraud by human rights experts. Digital forensics experts began examining Bezos’ phone for details about his private life. The story, which included his involvement in an extramarital affair, set off a race by his security team to uncover how Jeff Bezos’s personal messages were even found on signs at a supermarket owned by American Media Inc (AMI).
Research by the billionaire's team found reliable sources according to which the Saudis managed to gain access, through a message, to Bezos' phone and extract his personal data.
The analysis of Bezos' phone and indications that the "hack" began via an infected file originating from the Saudi prince's account has been reviewed by UN special rapporteur Agnès Callamard.
Callamard, whose investigation into Khashoggi's murder found that the prince and other senior Saudi officials were responsible for the killing, was still investigating the killing, but declined to comment on Bezos' case
Saudi experts said Jeff Bezos may have been targeted because he owns the Washington Post and its coverage of Saudi Arabia. Khashoggi's columns critical of Mohammed bin Salman and his crackdown on activists and intellectuals displeased the prince and his inner circle.
