AV TEST June 2019 tests: Windows Defender is now one of the top antivirus products worldwide, according to a study conducted by security researchers at the German institute AV-TEST.
Microsoft is not a company that only develops security software, and yet it has managed to make Windows Defender, the built-in antivirus of Windows 10, a very good and reliable product.
The latest tests conducted by AV TEST report that Windows Defender offers very reliable performance, like the products of companies that deal only with security (Kaspersky and Symantec).
Specifically, Windows Defender managed to have a final score of 18 points in the German company's tests, receiving six points each in tests that evaluate the product's protection, performance, and usability.
Only three other apps managed to get the top score: F-Secure SAFE, Kaspersky Internet Security, and Symantec Norton Security.
Products developed by other leading security vendors, such as Avast Free Antivirus, AVG Internet Security, Bitdefender Internet Security, Trend Micro Internet Security, and VIPRE Security AdvancedSecurity, each received 17.5 points, losing half a point in one of the three test categories we mentioned above.
Webroot SecureAnywhere had the lowest score with 11.5 points, after getting 2 points for protection, 5.5 points for performance, and 4 points for usability.
Windows Defender comes built-in with Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system.
The latest version of Windows 10, (May 2019 Update or version 1903), features Windows Security, which bundles Windows security. It includes antivirus, features to protect your account, firewall, device security, parental controls, and more.
