Microsoft reveals new Windows 7 pricing

Microsoft is in its prime right now . The revamped company is on the verge of becoming the most valuable tech company, and everyone is rightly praising Satya Nadella's leadership. But Windows 7 users won't be so happy with the company's new decisions.Windows 7

ZDNet reports that, despite its great popularity, Microsoft has no plans to extend support for Windows 7 beyond January 2020. Unless you pay a new annual subscription, which will double every year.

ZDNet reveals that Microsoft will charge Windows 7 Pro users $50 for the first year of additional support, $100 for the second year, and $200 for the third year. Windows Enterprise Volume Licensing customers will pay half of those prices, but the cost of maintaining multiple PCs will soon add up.

If you only participate in the second year, you will also have to pay for the first year.

The biggest problem, though, is that regular consumers have no choice but to opt in. Their computers will simply be cut off from updates starting in January 2020. So, while an extra year for $50 might seem tempting, it's unfortunately not going to be available to you. And on top of that, Microsoft recently raised the price of Windows 10 Home from $119 to $139.

In Microsoft's defense, Windows 7 turns 10 years old this year, so the company has to put a stop to it at some point.

This means that if Microsoft wants customers to upgrade to Windows 10 without the threat of costly penalties, then it must first put an end to the many serious problems that will make this move unattractive to Windows 7 users..
