Samsung has announced that it has created the first terabyte-capacity chip for smartphones! In fact, the new chip will incorporate large internal storage capabilities that will be similar to that of laptops!

According to Cheol Choi, president of Samsung’s Memory Sales and Marketing, the 1terabyte eUFS is expected to play a major role in bringing a more notebook-like user experience to next-generation mobile devices. The Korean company has already begun mass production of the chip, which it claims can read speeds of 1,000Mbps, almost double that of a typical 2.5-inch SATA SSD and faster than Samsung’s previous 512GB chip. A device with a 1terabyte chip can store 260 10-minute 4K videos, which is a huge amount that dwarfs the capabilities of current smartphones with the low capacity of eUFS chips. In fact, the 1terabyte chips will have the same package size as their 512GB counterparts, so smartphones wo n’t need to get any bigger to accommodate the chips.
According to official sources, the Galaxy Note 9, which is Samsung's latest smartphone, has a maximum capacity of 512 GB of internal memory. However, users can insert a 512GB microSD card to increase the total capacity of the mobile to 1Terabyte. However, with all these new chips, for those who require more and more capacity and do not want to open an additional SD card, they will have an alternative and more "expensive" option.
Finally, it should be noted that although a huge production of this type of chip has already begun, no official date has been announced yet for which new phones will incorporate them. However, there are some rumors that the new Galaxy S10 smartphone, which will be announced next month, will have this particular feature.
