Antivirus testing firm AV-TEST has released its August test results, revealing the best security products currently on the market for Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system.
There are no surprises, as the well-known companies Bitdefender, Kaspersky, and McAfee continue to top the charts. But products from Avira and VIPRE Security also performed quite well.
All of the above antivirus applications received 6 points each for protection, performance, and usability, for a total score of 18 points.
One of the best news for Windows 10 users is that Microsoft's default antivirus product delivers impressive results.
Windows Defender, which comes with Windows 10, scored a perfect 17.5 points in the protection and usability tests. Windows Defender lost half a point in the performance tests.
Microsoft is reportedly constantly improving Windows Defender, and it's likely that the app will soon become the go-to choice for Windows 10 users, who will no longer need to install third-party apps for their security.
The lowest score in this round of testing was PC Pitstop. The app received 5.5 points for protection, 4.5 for performance, and 2.5 for usability.
