Performance and specifications of the new generation Ryzen processors

RyzenIn the last few days, Geekbench 4 results have been released for three new AMD, the Ryzen 3 3200U, Ryzen 3 3300U, and Ryzen 5 3500U. Geekbench leaks have been very reliable in the past, so the 25% performance improvement it gives for these processors is a big deal.

Last year, AMD released to the market the first generation of mobile Ryzen processors, as a next-generation processor category and apparently intends to do it again. All processors in the 3000 series use the Raven Ridge architecture and Vega graphics, which means they will likely be based on 12 nm, like the desktop Ryzen 2000 processors. Like the previous generation, all have 4 MB cache memory and a 15 W TDP.

According to Geekbench, the Ryzen 3 3200U has the same two cores, with a configuration of four threads like the 2200U, but is 100MHz faster at 2.6GHz. The boost clock remains unknown, but it must be much higher, so the chip has an impressive single-core score of 3588 (25% increase) and a multi-core score of 6924 (24% increase), in a 14-inch laptop with 10GB of RAM.

Reducing the RAM memory to 6GB reduced performance by 3% and 5% on 17 ” and 14″ laptops respectively, while its reduction to 3.5GB reduced performance by 11% on another 14 “ model.

AMD appears to have followed the same strategy for the Ryzen 3 3300U, maintaining the same configuration of four cores, four threads as in the 2300U, but slightly increasing the base clock to 2.1GHz. The 3300U was benchmarked only once on a 17‑inch laptop, with 10GB RAM and achieved a single‑core score of 3654 (a 25% increase) and a multi‑core score of 9686 (24% increase).

The Ryzen 5 3500U is the same as the 3300U, only with multi-threading enabled. Doubling the number of threads gives a single-core score 3870 (23% increase) and a multi-core score 11284 (32% increase) in a 17” laptop with 14GB RAM. This places the processor slightly above the 3300U and in the same performance category as the latest-generation 2700U and the Intel i5-8250U.

According to Apisak, the 3700U and 300U will also make an appearance. The SiSoftware and Userbenchmark show the 3700U having identical specs to the 2700U, which seems unlikely, while there is nothing for the 300U. We'll have to wait and see.

Overall, AMD appears to be presenting a strong series of mobile processors next year. The current Ryzen generation started early this year, so it is certainly likely that AMD will announce the next one soon, perhaps even at CES.
