Microsoft has released another update for Windows 10 1809 (October 2018) and this is the second update made available to users for this operating system version in the last seven days.
The update is named KB4471332 and comes with a relatively small list of changes, as the majority of known issues were addressed with the previous update released by Microsoft.
This update fixes a bug in Windows Media Player that causes the search bar to stop working when playing certain files. This is an issue that also affected Windows 10 version 1803 (April 2018).
Since KB4471332 also includes security improvements, Microsoft notes the following in the short changelog published today:
“The security updates affect the following: Windows Authentication, Microsoft Scripting Engine, Internet Explorer, Windows App Platform, Microsoft Graphics Component, System Storage and Filesystems, Windows Wireless Networking, Windows Kernel, and Microsoft Edge.”
The good news is that there are no known issues with this update. This has been the main concern with cumulative updates lately, as most of the previous updates failed to install successfully or caused other issues on devices running Windows 10.
Microsoft points out that it is not aware of any issues with this update, and that means it should install correctly on all devices.
After installing KB4471332, the OS build number should be 17763.194. You can check your version by clicking the start menu and typing “winver”.
