Did you know that when you download apps from the Google Play Store you are nine times less likely to be attacked by malware than when you download them from other sources?
Google 's efforts to improve Android security are finally paying off. In fact, according to new statistics from the company, devices running newer versions of Android appear to have been affected much less than devices running older versions.
For example, if some Android devices running older versions, such as KitKat (4.x), Lollipop (5.x), and Marshmallow (6.x), download a malicious app, they are more likely to be infected with malware.

Google said that Android Nougat, released in August 2016, has a relatively low chance of being infected by a harmful application, but certainly newer versions, such as Oreo and Pie, maintain the lowest infection rates and are the safest options.
Below is a chart that shows the Android versions and their probability of attack. As you can see, KitKat, Lollipop, and Marshmallow are the most susceptible, while Oreo and Pie offer greater security.

The good news is that the Android security team is constantly trying to optimize security methods in newer versions with the aim of improving the user experience of this operating system.
But how will users with older versions of Android be protected ? It's very simple! Try to download applications only from the official Google Play Store and avoid downloading apps from your mobile browser !
