One security researcher managed to hide all of William Shakespeare's works inside an image, and used Twitter to broadcast it to the public, using a technique called steganography (steganography). Steganography is a technique used to «hide» data inside other files, which are not hidden. In this way, while a file can be distributed by many, it can contain data that few will discover.
In a recent experiment, security researcher David Buccan created a JPEG file that contained hidden RAR archives of William Shakespeare's entire works in HTML format. Buccan also discovered that the resulting file could be uploaded to Twitter and spread.
Buchanan managed to do this by creating a script that converts many pieces of RAR files into an ICC profile, which was later embedded into a Shakespeare image. ICC profiles are data fields that retain information about how the image will appear.
All the pieces of files that Вucһaнаn has hidden in the image are 64kb in size, and the reason is not accidental. Since all ICC profiles are stored in 64kb pieces, Вucһaнаn decided to do his test with multiple 64kb RAR files. When asked if he tried hiding something malicious inside the image, such as malware, he replied that he is not sure if antiviruses, and that it would certainly be a very good method for transferring messages that would only be read by those who know that these messages exist.
