Samsung smartphone sets car on fire after battery explodes

And while we were talking about smartphone batteries not exploding, here comes the news that a Samsung battery not only exploded, but also set fire to a car and almost killed its owner.

This time, however, it is not clear which Samsung model is responsible, as the owner owned two phones, a Galaxy S4 and a Galaxy S8. So it is difficult to determine which of the two exploded and ultimately destroyed a Nissan Maxima. Samsung is already investigating the case and will likely give us more information soon.
The information comes to us from WXYZ in Detroit, and it reports that a female driver, who remains anonymous, barely managed to pull over and stop her car before the flames engulfed it. The incident occurred on the morning of May 21, when a woman was driving her car with both phones placed in a cup holder.
Although the lack of evidence may cast doubt on the incident, the Detroit Fire Department has confirmed it, but without giving details of the investigation.
On the other hand, her lawyer, Mr. Gerald Thurswell, says that the driver has had trouble sleeping after the incident and says that he has already contacted the manufacturer of the phones.
The good news for Samsung is that no lawsuit has been filed so far. The bad news is that, if the Galaxy S8 is what caused the fire, then the news may cause new concerns for owners of Samsung phones.
