With Intel struggling to keep up with increased demand and manufacturing challenges, AMD is rising to the occasion. With Ryzen, the company is in a position to compete with Intel.
Just recently, the company shared information about a new feature called Dynamic Local Mode. This new software automatically moves the most demanding threads to CPU cores with local memory access.
As a result, applications that "prefer" access to local DRAM can benefit from this and boost performance.
Dynamic Local Mode is implemented as a background service in Windows 10 that calculates the processing time consumed by each thread. Using this data, the most demanding threads are identified and given direct access to memory.
In internal testing of the feature, applications were able to record a performance increase of up to ~47% with Dynamic Local Mode enabled.
This new free feature is built for AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX and 2970WX processors. Only AMD Threadripper chips have a mixed memory access design.
Starting October 29th, Dynamic Local Mode will be included in new versions of AMD Ryzen Master. It will also be available as a default package in AMD Chipset Drivers soon.
