AMD has finally released its 2nd generation Ryzen processors . The new series consists of four different processors: the Ryzen 7 2700X, Ryzen 2700, Ryzen 5 2600X, and Ryzen 5 1600. Compared to their predecessors, these new processors bring a number of advantages.
First, AMD has been working to improve the architecture that powers the new generation of Ryzen processors. Of the four chips, the Ryzen 7 2700X is the fastest, with a base clock speed of 3.7GHz, which can be boosted to 4.3GHz. This chip replaces the older Ryzen 7 1800.
The newer generations of Ryzen CPUs are also much cheaper. Compared to the 1800X, which launched at $499, the 2700X chip is now available for $329.
If you don't want to spend a lot of money, the Ryzen 5 2600 is the most affordable option for you, available for $199. With a speed between 3.9GHz and 3.4GHz, it is expected to compete with Intel's Core i5-8500 processor.
These chips are based on AMD's Zen+ 12nm architecture. Next year, Zen 2 will introduce significant changes to the architecture and more improvements. It's also worth noting that AMD is also throwing in a free "Wraith" cooler with each CPU.
Aside from the details of the basic specifications, AMD refrains from providing further information.
These chips will be available in stores starting April 19th, and are already available through Amazon.
