Good news for Ubuntu Phone users as the open source VoIP (Voice over IP) application is now available for the Ubuntu Touch mobile operating system and you can download it for free from the Open Store.
If you use an Ubuntu phone, you can now make VoIP (Voice over IP) calls no matter where you are, thanks to two open source software developers who ported the Linphone to the Ubuntu Touch operating system.
With the Linphone app installed on your Ubuntu Phone, you can create a SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) account from Linphone.org to call another SIP or eNum client for free, as well as to call regular phone numbers, which require a SIP account with credit. Linphone also allows you to connect to your existing SIP account.

However, the developers emphasized that Linphone for Ubuntu Touch only works with certain SIP accounts. The good news is that Linphone runs in the background by default and will not turn off the screen during calls.
Installing the Linphone app on your phone is an easy task, as all you have to do is open the Open Store app on your device, search for Linphone, and install it.
The latest version of Linphone is v0.9.10, which is the first release to provide a solution to the issue that prevented the Linphone app from displaying incoming calls on Android. Linphone is currently available for Ubuntu Touch mobile operating systems based on Vivid and Xenial.
