Chrome and Firefox Web Authentication API: no more passwords

WC3 Web Authentication API or WebAuthn: Chrome and Firefox will soon support a new Web Authentication API, which will provide greater protection against phishing attacks and reduce the use of passwords.
WC3's Web Authentication API or WebAuthn promises a simpler and more secure way to register on a page. Web Authentication API
Instead of using the classic username and password, the user will be able to register a fingerprint, retina or other biometric data stored on their smartphone.
The system will use an encrypted public key and ensure that each service a user registers for has its own key pairs, thus addressing the problem of reusing the same password.

With this API, someone could visit a service page on their computer, click the sign up button, and then receive a notification on their smartphone asking them to sign up.
The person would then have to enter an authorization method, which could be a PIN or a fingerprint that they would use in the future to log into their account.
As Nick Steele of Duo Security recently reported, WebAuthn is based on the older FIDO Alliance standard, called UAF, or Universal Authentication Factor, but it has several technical advantages.
So we expect to see the new feature in Chrome and Firefox as mentioned above, but also in Microsoft's Edge, which is trying to compete with the two big browsers.
It should be noted that although Apple's Safari browser does not currently support WebAuthn, the Web Authentication Working Group has many developers from the company.
