New research by AV-TEST on the best Windows 10 antivirus for home users and business customers gives us an update on the best security products on the market.
Specifically, an analysis conducted on virus detection in April 2018 showed that Kaspersky Lab's Endpoint Security, Symantec's Endpoint Protection, and Trend Micro's Office Scan are still the leading solutions on the market.
All three products received the maximum score of 18 points: 6 points in the protection tests, 6 points in the performance tests and 6 points in the usability tests.
Clearly, there are several other security products that offer near-perfect performance, scoring 17.5 points. These include: Bitdefender, Kaspersky Small Office Security, McAfee Endpoint Security, and Symantec Endpoint Protection Cloud.
The lowest score this time was received by Traps from Palo Alto Networks with 3 points in the protection tests, 5 points in the performance tests, and 5 points in the usability tests.
Microsoft 's Windows Defender delivered satisfactory results in the tests, although this should not surprise us given that the performance of Windows 10's default security solution has improved significantly in recent months.
Specifically, Windows Defender antivirus received a final score of 16.5 points, as follows: 5.5 points for protection, 5.5 points for performance, and 5.5 points for usability. With minimal improvements in each department, Windows Defender could achieve top performance, making third-party security products more or less redundant.
