A new wave of “foldable smartphones” has hit the tech industry, with several companies like Apple, Samsung, Oppo, and Huawei already working on them. It was recently reported that LG had also entered this space, filing a patent for a foldable smartphone that features two screens, two batteries, and two headphone jacks!
The WIPO patent titled “Mobile Terminal,” which was first discovered by LetsGoDigital, shows drawings that illustrate possible use cases for this device. This patent was filed on September 28, 2016, but was only recently made public.
The foldable screens can be used according to each need, either with a single screen, or with both at the same time, to expand the view, while each screen uses its own battery.
This allows two or more applications to run simultaneously on the screens, which are curved, allowing elements such as date, time, temperature and other notifications to be displayed on the curved sides of the screens.
So, with the two curved screens, two people can use the phone at the same time. The presence of two headphone jacks will also allow two people to watch and listen to the same or different content at the same time.
The first screen has a built-in fingerprint sensor and a digital camera, while the second screen only has a single camera.
Overall, the design is very good, but interested buyers will have to wait a while before this model starts hitting the market.
