Acer and ASUS bring Nvidia G-Sync technology to their monitors

Acer and ASUS monitors with Nvidia's G-Sync HDR technology are finally shipping in 2018, a year after their scheduled launch.

Nvidia's G-Sync technology has been ready for quite some time. The fact that gaming monitors with G-Sync are much more expensive than the others does not particularly please the fans.

Synchronizing refresh rate with FPS in games may not seem like a big deal, but it is. There are some software solutions that are implemented directly on graphics cards, but providing hardware to the monitors is much more efficient.Nvidia

Also, we have HDR for monitors, a technology that allows adjusting the lighting in various parts of the screen. The pairing of HDR and G-Sync proved to be a difficult task, but eventually the monitors with both technologies will be available in 2018.

The gaming market is slowly moving towards 4K, which can be achieved with the latest graphics cards.

Of course, Nvidia will likely showcase the new technology with the ASUS ROG Swift PG27UQ and Acer Predator X27. “The backlight illuminates the screen and with 384 individually controlled LED, light will only appear when and where it is needed, allowing HD-G-SYNC displays to simultaneously produce bright and deep blacks, emulating the best plasma displays,” says a company spokesperson.

It is important to keep in mind that G-Sync was introduced for the first time in 2013 and we have not yet seen its integration on a large scale. New monitors will not be cheap and if the technology proves to be mass-market, it will take a few years before a worldwide release.
