Antivirus: Due to the continued growth of Android malware, using antivirus software on a mobile device becomes essential, although keeping smartphones safe isalso possible by following simple practices, such as installing apps only from trusted sources.
However, for those looking to install third-party antivirus on an Android, choosing the most effective app is much more difficult than you might think.
The antivirus testing organization has conducted a new study to determine the best antivirus apps for Android, and the results are not surprising at all.
No fewer than nine security products received the maximum score, including apps from Symantec, Tencent, AVG, Trend Micro, and Sophos. All of these apps were awarded six points for protection and another six for usability, while some came with additional security features that earned an extra point.
Apps from companies that dominate the security software market, including Bitdefender, Kaspersky, and McAfee, also performed very well in the latest round of charts, although they didn't achieve a 100% score in real-world tests. Kaspersky, for example, achieved a detection rate of 99.6%, Bitdefender scored slightly lower at 99.7%.
The strange thing is that Google Play Protect, which is available on Android to protect devices from malware injected into apps from the Google Play Store, was not very successful, achieving only a 62.9% detection rate.
AV-TEST says the industry average for detecting the latest Android malware in real time is 97.8%, while in the case of malware discovered in the last 4 weeks the detection rate improves to 98.5%.
