LibreOffice 6.1 promises new, useful features

LibreOffice 6.1 is being prepared by The Document Foundation for an August 2018 release, promising to add more improvements and some new features to the popular open source office suite.

It's worth reminding you that the previous version, LibreOffice 6.0, received 1 million downloads in just two weeks after its release, a success that the development team hopes to surpass with the new version.

LibreOffice 6.1 will be the first major update to the 6.x series of the office suite and will add another layer of new features and improvements to the open source and cross-platform office suite used by millions of computer users worldwide.LibreOffice 6.1

Among the new features and improvements that will be implemented in LibreOffice 6.1, we can mention optional inline tooltips in tracked changes for Writer, the ability to sort images in Calc, along with a new option implemented in the Insert Image window to allow you to place the image in the cell or on the page.

The user also gains a basic list of styles via the Styles submenu, the ability to number pages in documents, and the ability to remove the entire variation sequence with the Backspace key.

The Calc user interface also has some new menu options, such as “Manage Name,” “Data Validation,” and “Conditional Formatting” commands designed to work if the mouse is in a named range, a field with a validation attribute, and a field that has a condition, respectively.

Additionally, Impress and Draw get a new menu page, the author can export text in DOCX format, the Microsoft Excel 2003 XML import filter has been revised, the Gallery and Area Fill dialog backgrounds have been completely revamped, and the “Link to External Data” feature supports text files and CSV files.
