Windows 10: Cumulative update KB4074592 has an error

KB4074592 is one of the cumulative updates sent by Microsoft every Patch Tuesday and brings security and non-security fixes to systems running Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703).

However, it appears that KB4074592 is experiencing some issues on many systems, and we have received confirmation of at least one bug so far.

While reports of failed installations are not numerous so far, Sandboxie has confirmed that Windows 10 may experience a BSOD after the deployment of cumulative update KB4074592.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB4074592 comes with only one known issue, but it's actually a bug that's been around for a few months.

Microsoft says that antivirus solutions on systems with this update must have a special registry key – this is a requirement for all security products, and if they are not compatible they may prevent computers from receiving further cumulative updates.

Contact your antivirus manufacturer to make sure their software is compatible and has set the following REGKEY on the computer:

Key=”HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

“Subkey=”SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\QualityCompat”

Value Name=”cadca5fe-87d3-4b96-b7fb-a231484277cc”

Type=”REG_DWORD”

Data=”0x00000000”
