If you've ever watched a video on YouTube and wished you could participate in it, there's a new augmented reality app that can help you.
It's called Spilly, and it takes popular videos from celebrities, YouTube stars, and other well-known clips and then lets users transform them with Snapchat-style effects and even add their faces.
The app features a seemingly endless stream of video clips sourced from YouTube. For each clip, there are a variety of special effects you can add to make your own video.
You could, for example, change what Kevin Durant is wearing in the Golden Star Warriors, or add virtual confetti or flowers to a video . Or add rain or add light or any combination of the above. The clip allows you to add or remove effects until you get what you like.
There's also an "impostor" feature that lets you add your own face to videos, so you can record clips of yourself to overlay people's faces in videos. When you're done with your creation, you can export the clip to share with friends or on social media.
The app is powered by sensor networks, which allow it to track what's happening in videos in real time, so that the results are aligned with the correct point in the video. This is how the app knows where faces, bodies, and other objects are in any video being played.
The company behind Spilly is currently working with a small team of creators and influencers who can upload their videos to the app's feed, so they can continue to add more and refresh the available videos.
