The Galaxy Note 8 has reportedly set a new record for smartphone screen brightness, according to testing firm DisplayMate.
The new 6.3-inch Quad HD+Super AMOLED Infinity Display is one of the standout displays that comes with the Galaxy Note 8. The Galaxy Note 8 is the successor to a phone that Samsung wants everyone to forget.
The device was tested by DisplayMate, which reports that the Galaxy Note 8 has the best display it has ever tested, with several key improvements over the Galaxy S8, which it gave an A+ rating.
The Galaxy Note 8 should react much better to sunlight thanks to the screen's peak brightness of over 1,200 nits.
The number means it's 22 percent brighter than the Galaxy S8 and brighter than all other smartphones on the market, including the iPhone 7, whose peak brightness reaches 705 nits.
The Infinity Display also created 14% more screen space without changing the size of Samsung's "explosive" predecessor.
The Note 8's display also performs very well in color, with a wider color gamut and four display modes for viewing different content, such as photos or movies. DisplayMate says the Note 8 can play 4K content that's made for 4K UHD TVs.
Other notable additions to the display include a new night mode with a blue filter for less distracting nighttime reading and dual ambient light sensors for better and automatic brightness.
It also has three power-saving modes to reduce the impact of the screen on the battery. This mode reduces the brightness and sets the background to black.
The Galaxy Note 8 is currently available for pre-order and will be released in the US, UK and South Korea on September 15.
