Linux Lite 3.0 offers great flexibility and usability for both recent “migrants” from Microsoft Windows and experienced Linux users.
Linux Lite is a beginner-friendly distribution based on the Ubuntu long-term support (LTS) distribution. It comes with the Xfce desktop. Linux Lite, as mentioned above, is primarily aimed at Windows users. Its goal is to provide a complete set of applications that will help users with their daily needs.
All system controls and settings are located in the Settings option on the main menu screen, as you can see in the image above. Windows users will find a very close resemblance to the Control Panel in this operating system. Even new Linux users won't need much exploration to navigate Linux Lite.
Currently, Linux Lite 3.4 Final is being released.
The new Linux Lite continues to focus on Security by providing a newer Lite Updates application.
This application sends you desktop notifications informing you of all available updates.
Continuing with the security features, it is worth mentioning Lite Welcome, which has a new look. It will help any newcomer to the operating system to easily install updates, necessary drivers, and set a restore point.
This release also brings 4 new features to Lite Tweaks: Hibernate & Suspend, Login and Logout options, Session Management and Storage, and zRam.
With the Hibernate & Suspend option, you can choose whether or not these options will appear on the Log Out screen.
The “Login and Logout” feature allows the administrator to enable or disable the login and logout window options.
These 2 new features are especially useful for multi-user setups. zRam is a compressed form of RAM for faster I/O and is ideal for older computers.
