Samsung announced its latest smartphones, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, in late March. Pre-orders began in select markets in April, and the phones were gradually released in several countries worldwide . 
According to the company itself, Galaxy S8 sales have surpassed five million. "Although we cannot provide detailed figures, sales are going quite well around the world. We have already surpassed 5 million units," a Samsung spokesperson said.
The giant even plans to offer the Galaxy S8 in 120 more countries by the end of the month.
Samsung is expected to sell around 20 million Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ by the end of the second quarter, with annual sales expected to reach between 50 and 60 million units. Furthermore, pre-orders for the new smartphones are quite strong, with Samsung managing to surpass one million pre-orders within just a few days of its release.
The Galaxy S8+ is quite popular, signaling that consumers are starting to be more interested in Samsung devices with larger screens and battery capacity.
On the other hand, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge managed to record 55 million sales within a year. Of course, the price adjustments and offers attracted enough interest from consumers who chose to get the Galaxy S7 instead of waiting for the S8.
Samsung has said it wants the Galaxy S8 to surpass its previous sales record even before the Galaxy Note 8 is released. We certainly think the Galaxy S8 will help Samsung break the record in the first quarter of this year.
