We already know that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will have a super-large display on the front, so whatever is on that screen will be very important.
Now, SamMobile has published images of the Galaxy S8 launcher – the app that controls what you see on the home screen – and it's quite different from anything we've seen on Samsung phones so far.
The images come from the APK of Samsung's Smart Switch app, which is used to transfer contacts and other content from one phone to another. While there's no guarantee that the final version of the Samsung Galaxy S8 will actually feature this app, the images look pretty convincing.
Samsung's old interface, TouchWiz, was revamped and renamed Samsung Experience with the arrival of Android 7.0 Nougat. But the new interface, while similar, takes the aesthetics a step further.
The home screen has a distinctively minimalist look, with simple, stylized app and no text (it's likely that the S8 icons will have text underneath them). The icons themselves will consist of white lines on a flat colored background, and the usual Android controls at the bottom of the screen have been redesigned to match the style of the new icons.
We've already seen samples of the new UI in leaked images, but this is the first time we've had a detailed look at the key icons, built-in apps, and Samsung features.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is scheduled to be released on March 29th, but it seems we already know a lot about the new phone!
