Details of the upcoming Mi 5c smartphone have been surfacing for several months now, the device is also known by Xiaomi's codename "Meri". The smartphone has just been spotted on Geekbench running Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
This is not the first time that the Xiaomi Mi 5c has appeared on Geekbench, in October, the phone was tested running Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Xiaomi Mi 5c received a multi-core score of 3399, while the original variant scored just 3105. The single multi-core score reached 762 for the Mi 5c running Android Nougat.
Such benchmark listings have revealed some details about the upcoming smartphones. The Xiaomi Mi 5c is expected to feature 2GB of RAM and run on an octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. The system-on-chip is rumored to be the Xiaomi Pinecone SoC.
Xiaomi is said to be working on a Pinecone SoC, designed on the 10nm process. The chipset could come in two variants, with the lower-end V670 said to power the Mi 5c. The lower-end V670 Pinecone SoC is expected to use the 28nm manufacturing process, while the higher-end V970 Pinecone SoC could be found in all the Mi 6s and Mi Note 3.
The Xiaomi Mi 5c is rumored to feature a 5.5-inch Full HD display and a 5V/2A power supply, which means it might not have support for fast charging. The phone might feature a metal frame, compared to its glass Mi 5 predecessor. Some reports say that Xiaomi could get rid of the physical home button on the front, a move that many other manufacturers like Samsung and Apple are expected to make this year. Most likely, the fingerprint scanner that was previously embedded in the home button could be moved to the back of the upcoming mid-range phone.
