Are you fed up and tired of your Internet service provider? There’s a good chance your answer is yes. So, what can you do to solve this issue? Well, you might be planning to upgrade your plan or change your ISP – right?
But Christine Condor, a self-proclaimed farmer's wife, has decided to take the road less traveled. She has become an internet revolutionary herself , thanks to her DIY solution to her neighbor's internet connection problems, according to the BBC.
That’s when her efforts to improve connectivity evolved into B4RN, an ISP that provides one gigabit per second of broadband speed to residents of the Lune Valley in Lancashire in 2009. It was inspired by the tall trees that separated her farm from the nearest WiFi provider and degraded her signal.
With no other alternatives available, Christine purchased a kilometer of fiber optic cable and used her tractor to dig a trench for the cable.
Compared to the average speed of 28.9 MBPS in the UK, its Internet is 35 times faster!
Its entire infrastructure is fiber optic cable that goes directly to homes. B4RN claims to have laid about 2,000 miles of cable and is connecting a large portion of the region to the network.
Christine's services have also been recognized by the Queen herself, and she was awarded an MBE in 2015.
